Hiatus: Eczema and RSS/TSA/TSW Awareness

Hello blog world; I have once again returned. Well...kind of. It's been quite difficult for me to blog over the past year because of various reasons but I still wanted to try keep this blog running. However, I have finally decided to put this blog on hiatus for an indefinite period of time due to health reasons; my eczema. Some of you may have seen me mention it here and there on my blog but I want to properly address it today. I also want to spread some awareness about something I'm going through right now called "Topical Steroid Withdrawal" (aka TSW). This is going to be quite a lengthy post, so for those who want the long story short:

DON'T USE STEROID CREAMS (or use them very sparingly).

For those who want to continue reading, I'm going to warn you that some of the photos I'm going to include are pretty gross. Eczema is a skin condition that is itchy and dry which doesn't sound life threatening but this post is here to show how bad it can become. Eczema needs to be taken seriously.

June 2015

Let's start with a somewhat presentable photo of me so I don't scare anybody yet. A little back story: I took this selfie because I had just done my make up on the train and was pretty proud of the result! I didn't upload the photo to anywhere until now, because if you look carefully you can see my shoulder, neck and chest area had red patches and dots on them. I even tried to cover it with my hair and no photo filters was going to hide that redness! I had other photos from my little selfie session but all of them were the same; you can see my red patchy skin in all of them.

During this time was when we had the heatwave in the UK which worsened my eczema. I didn't want show my skin but it was just too hot to keep it covered. It was affecting my self confidence so I went to see the doctors to get some more steroid cream because the one I was using (Dermovate) was running out and moisturiser wasn't cutting it for me. I also requested a cream for my face because my eczema had spread to my face and I seriously felt ugly on days it was scaly. And so the doctor gave me some new steroid cream; I was prescribed Hydrocortisone for my face and Eumovate for whatever else was on my body.

Hair Diary: DIY Black Hair to Blonde

Woah blogworld! Long time no speak! Whilst I was absent, I did it guys! I managed to get my black hair to a blonde colour by myself :D

Spot the difference

Last year when I was lightening my hair I only used dyes so I never hit blonde. Unfortunately to get blonde hair from a dark colour, you will probably need to us bleach at some point. So this time round that's what I did; plus this method would lighten my hair quicker. To make it less damaging, I used a method called "bleach bathing" which is when you dilute the bleach with shampoo to make it less harsh. Towards the end of my hair lightening journey though, I did start using just bleach because I was getting sick of being different shades of ginger. So yeah, that a quick summary of what I did! I took pictures of each stage I was at so in this post I will be showing you just that. Hopefully it will help somebody out there who's considering to go blonde!

[Note] Before I begin I'd like to state I am not a professional! Dying and bleaching my own hair is like a hobby for me. Most of my research is from YouTube videos, reading other people's experiences on blogs and forums, and my own trials and errors. Please take my post like a grain of salt ( ^_^")

Blog Swap with Pam (Jade in the Palace)

*Note* First paragraph is going to be me rambling about what's happened recently in life. Feel free to scroll past if you want to get straight into my blog swap :)

Hello blog world! I want to quickly apologise for the inconsistency of my posts. A lot of stuff has been happening to my life outside the internet. This Monday I finally stepped into the world of full time employment! Before getting this job I was working part time in retail/sales which I really wanted to get out of so I was constantly looking for a new job. I was really stressed from all this job hunting but that stress was increased when my last job pretty much told me I was being made redundant!! Moving onto something happier though, a positive reason for my absence in blogging is I've taken up working out regularly which I've stuck to pretty well. I say "pretty well" because things sort of went downhill when I found out I potentially could've ended up unemployed but I'm slowly getting back on track :'D Now that things are finally falling into place I hope I'll be blogging more regularly like I used to. I've honestly not had the motivation for the past months, because every time I went on my laptop to do anything other than looking for a job, I felt guilty. But now I don't need to job hunt anymore \(^o^)/

About a month ago I did a blog swap with Pam from Jade in the Palace. This swap has a bit of a back story because it wasn't even supposed to be a swap! Pam had won a giveaway I hosted ages ago but we encountered a lot of trouble sending the prize (very long story!) so she never received it :( Fast forward some months I decided to try sending Pam another package because it never felt right that she won my giveaway but didn't get anything in return. Pam being so lovely decided to turn things into a swap! This is what I got ^^

Pam really spoilt me ^///^

I've always liked reading other people's monthly favourites and empties. Never got into making my own posts though because I don't go through that many products in one month. However, recently I've tried a few products which I've really enjoyed, want to to talk about them but don't have enough to say to make a full review on the products. So I'm now going to start doing post called "Likes"! I'm not sure if it's going to be a monthly thing but we shall see in the future~

Travels: Japanese Fishing Boat Restaurant ざうお

Finally, a post about my trip to Japan!! I'm so behind on these posts but better late than never haha~ For those of you who didn't know, I visited Japan with my family at the end of 2014. This could've been titled "Day #1 in Japan" but we only really did one major activity on the first day (we landed in the evening) so "Japanese Fishing Boat Restaurant" it is!

Clairol Nice 'n Easy No Ammonia Dark Brown Review

Hello~ I finally replaced my laptop charger so I can get back to blogging again! I'm so behind and have got so much to write about (@__@") Anyway, today's post will be a hair dye review.

The reason I picked this dye was because it "lasts up to 24 shampoos"

This dye was the last one for my hair darkening journey because it was the dye I used just a few days before my graduation ceremony. The reason I wanted to go darker in the first place was because of graduation. Can't have anything too crazy in the photos I'd be sending back to my grandparents! I'd already planned to go lighter again for the summer so I wanted something non-permanent that would wash out.

Video: One Day in Japan

Hello peeps! Sorry for the lack of updates. My laptop charger broke so I haven't been able to use it and get to my blogging files *sadface*. However, in the mean time I have been working on a mini project on my boyfriend's laptop: a video! Somewhere in the middle of my trip in Japan, I suddenly thought "hmm...why not take the blog to another level and film some footage!". I am bit nervous showing it because I am a new to this but I hope you guys like it. Enjoy!

Don't forget to like and subscribe LOL

The majority of the clips were filmed in Kagoshima. We also visited Fukuoka and Kumamoto so some clips from there may pop up too. It's been almost two months since my holiday so I'm forgetting which clips were filmed where (^^")

John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Deep Cherry Brown Review

I've finally cleared the backlog of hair dye reviews I've had to do! This means I can finally work on my holiday posts in peace (I have something quite exciting up my slight tehee). Also, providing I don't dye my hair before my next dye post, I *should* be talking about my current colour. Today however, I'm not haha. Anyway, hope you enjoy this review of John Frieda's dye.

This has been on my to-try list for a while because I do prefer foam dyes

I chose a red toned dye because this was during the time I was on my hair darkening journey. My theory with going dark is that I need to pump red tones I've taken out when lightening my hair. The red tone, although most of it will fade, will give me a better base colour for my future darker dye. I have no idea if this is true so don't quote me on this. I'm not a pro ^^"

Asian Beauty and Skincare Haul

*Before I start, I know I'm late to the party but Happy New Year everyone! Hope this year will bring more joy and happiness than the last ^^*

OK so back to the haul and a quick update on my life! I recently went back to Hong Kong to see my family and within that time I also got to visit Japan too. Posts on my trip will be up in the near future when I have time, however today I will be sharing some of things I bought. Asides from some snacks (which I've nearly eaten all of) and a couple of magazines, most of the stuff I purchased and bought back across the globe was make up and skincare products. What can I say, I am a beauty junkie!
